Which HubSpot plan do you need for custom objects and labels?
HubSpot puts features on different plans, and the names don't help. If you plan to track events or targets in HubSpot, it helps to know which plan you need before you build.
The short version
| Feature | What it needs (check your account) |
|---|---|
| Custom objects, such as an Event object | Enterprise |
| Association labels | Higher-tier plans |
| Custom subscription types | Marketing email plans |
| Sales goals and targets | Some sales plans |
| Standard deals, contacts, companies | Any plan |
| A group or headcount board on Companies or a custom object | Any plan, using the object you already have |
HubSpot changes what is on each plan. Treat this table as a starting point and confirm on your own pricing page or account.
Without Enterprise
- Events: use marketing events, or a contact property per event, or lists.
- Subscriptions: subscription types work with marketing email.
- Sales boards: deals and owners are standard, so most sales views work.
How to decide
- List the outcome you want, not the feature, for example "know who attended".
- Find the cheapest way HubSpot supports it on your plan.
- Upgrade only if that way genuinely costs your team time.
