How to build a sales leaderboard in HubSpot

Updated October 2026

A leaderboard shows who closed what, this week or this month. Done well it makes good work visible. Done badly it makes half the team stop caring. The build is easy. The choices are the hard part.

Build the report

  1. Create a report on deals, filtered to closed-won in the period you want.
  2. Group by deal owner and sum the deal amount.
  3. Sort largest first and show it as a bar chart.
  4. Add it to a dashboard and set the period to the current week or month.

What to rank on

  • Revenue closed: the usual one. Rewards big deals.
  • Number of deals: rewards volume, good for short sales cycles.
  • Percent of target: fairer when reps carry different quotas.

Keep it fair

  • Agree what counts as closed-won first, and use the close date, not the created date.
  • Make sure every deal has an owner, because deals without one never appear.
  • Show progress against target beside the ranking so new starters are not just "last".

Where to show it

A leaderboard only works if people see it. On a laptop it is one more report to open. On a screen in the office it is part of the day. See putting a HubSpot dashboard on an office TV.
